As we enter the new year there are plenty of videogames to look forward to and it's looking to be an even bigger year than 2021.
In fact, many games that were supposed to release in 2021 got delayed, mostly due to the pandemic.
While that was something gamers across the world had to accept, it does mean that many anticipated titles will be released in the coming months after a long wait.
We've handpicked some of the top games coming out in 2022 so you can mark their launch date on your calendar.
Here's a small breakdown of each game you can look forward to in 2022.
Rainbow Six Extraction - January 20
Following the popularity of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Extraction hopes to add a new dimension of gameplay to the first-person shooter series.
A strange yet welcome twist on the series is the introduction of an alien species which the Rainbow Six team must fight off against to save the world.
The game will have a variety of game modes with the option to play solo or jump online with two friends for the co-op mode.
Like other recent Rainbow Six titles, players will take control of an Operator which they can focus on progressing and upgrading.
There will be a set of milestones players have to reach in order to further progress their characters, this can be done by completing objectives in the game which will also result in unlocking new maps, Operators, REACT tech, customisation items and more.
Sifu - February 8
Sifu will throw players into the role of a king fu student who has embarked on a mission to hunt down a group of five deadly assassins who murdered his family.
The beat 'em up action-adventure draws a lot of influence from traditional kung fu and includes over 150 attacks for players to try and experiment with.
Players will be tasked with traversing through a modern-day Chinese city as they hunt their targets, forcing them to encounter in a wide variety of fights.
Unique skills can also be unlocked as players progress through the game while learning from their errors each step of the way.
Horizon Forbidden West - February 18
Horizon Forbidden West follows the story of Aloy, a young explorer, as she travels through distant lands while encountering massive machine enemies.
Set in the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon, this game shows a distant future where life on Earth is rapidly approaching extinction without any obvious cause.
It is up to Aloy and the player to uncover the secrets of Horizon and restore balance and life to the world while forging alliances with warring factions and digging up the ancient past.
The open world of Horizon Forbidden West means that there should be plenty of player freedom to explore at their own pace and free will while discovering new characters and fighting new enemies.
Elden Ring - February 25
Elden Ring is the creative child of a collaboration between George R.R. Martin, best known for his A Song of Ice and Fire books which were the inspiration for the Game of Thrones TV show and Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator behind the award-winning Dark Souls videogame series.
The gameplay is set to be somewhat familiar to fans of FromSoftware's previous titles such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, all of which contain gruelling and unapologetic combat and exploration.
Miyazaki has confirmed there will be new mechanics added to the game which will refresh the typical 'Soulsborne' experience.
One of the key changes is the variety of skills that players can equip to weapons.
He explains: "You’re actually able to freely interchange skills between a large variety of weapons.”
Elden Ring will take place in a world called the Lands Between, a place that has clearly taken inspiration from Dark Souls filled with castles, ruins and catacombs to create a true dark fantasy atmosphere.
Gran Turismo 7 - March 4
PlayStation's answer to Forza will be launching this year with 420 new cars for players to enjoy.
It aims to attract all kinds of racers, from competitive to casual and collector to tuner with a wide variety of game modes to get into such as a campaign mode, arcade, and driving school.
The solo campaign will alow players to unlock new cars as they complete plenty of challenges to give them an edge over the competition.
For the more hardcore racers, there is the GT Sport Mode which will put players head-to-head with others to find out who is the best.
Saints Row - August 22
Saints Row will apparently not just be a sequel to the iconic trilogy but a complete reintroduction to the series.
Set in the vibrant fictional city of Santo Ileso, players will be jumping into a world full of crime where lawless factions compete against each other for power and territory.
It will be up to players to become 'Self Made' as they start from the bottom and steadily rise to the top to become the most powerful figure in Santo Ileso.
The game will feature Hollywood-style action that has come to be expected from Saints row as you shoot, drive and fly in your mission to be the greatest.
Starfield - November 11
Starfield is the first new universe created by legendary studio Bethesda in 25 years.
As the creators behind the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, it's no surprise that Starfield will be an open-world game with plenty of player freedom.
The game will be set in a sci-fi world in the distant future where mankind has already begun colonizing different worlds.
Players will enter the game as members of Constellation, an organisation dedicated to exploring space.
God of War: Ragnarok - To be announced
Ragnarok will be the finale in the revitalised story of God of War.
Based on Norse mythology, the game will settle the story between Kratos and his son who was revealed in the last game to be a major god in the mythos (don't worry we won't spoil everything if you haven't had a chance to play yet).
As the title hints at, the game will cover the events of Ragnarok, an apocalyptic scenario which, in the Norse religion, sets out the parameters for the end of the world and will see a big fight between giants and gods.
Whatever Kratos' role in this is, we will have to wait and see.
