The producer of Antonio Brown’s video said Jon Gruden approved the use of phone call

New England Patriots receiver Antonio Brown made multiple seemingly strategic moves to force his way out of Oakland the past week, and that, of course, included a wonderfully produced video that featured a recorded phone conversation with Jon Gruden.

Given that California law requires two-party consent for voice recordings, the video could have exposed Brown to some legal consequences if Gruden either didn’t know he was being recorded or didn’t approve the use of the recording.

According to the producer of that video, though, Gruden was on board. The creative mind behind the video, Alejandro Narciso, joined the Dan Le Batard Show on Monday and claimed that Gruden gave them the green light to use the recording.

Narciso said:

“My whole thing the entire time when we were waiting for Gruden’s response was that Gruden’s gonna be like, ‘Listen, AB, I love you, man. But that’s disrespectful. I can’t be having you post our own conversations.’ Which is the response that I think anyone would think was gonna happen. And then, he responds like 15 minutes later. Three texts. He goes, ‘Wow. I love it! Loved it! I love it!’

“And I was like, ‘What?!’ And we were like, ‘All right. There’s our consent.'”

If Narciso or Brown still have those texts from Gruden, that obviously erases all those legal questions. But wow, few would have expected Gruden himself to give the go ahead on that secretly recorded conversation.

He tolerated more from Brown than any coach would have put up with.
