FIRST PRIZE: Live news. David Levene. A man walks past a barrow laden with corpses at the Grande Cimetière in Port-au-Prince, four days after the earthquake that struck Haiti on 12th January 2010. Death toll estimates following the disaster have ranged between 170,000 and 250,000 and in the days immediately after the earthquake so many dead bodies were dumped here that they ended up strewn throughout the avenues and walkways of the cemetery. Most unidentified bodies were eventually buried in mass graves around the edges of the city. 16th January 2010 Photograph: David LeveneSELECTED: Photo essay. David Levene.
