The Premier League transfer meeting which could affect Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea next summer

The early closure of the summer transfer window in England could soon be a thing of the past, if reports are to be believed.

Two years ago Premier League clubs voted for deadline day to be brought forward for the beginning of the 2018/2019 campaign, meaning there was to be no drama at the end of August.

This was done in order to cause less disruption and distraction once the fixtures have got underway.

Although, the rest of Europe have been operating to the old system which has brought about some complications for some this summer.

Following the closure of the window in England on August 8, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino couldn't rest easy amid talk of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen courting interest from across Europe.

In the end, the trio did stay put but Pochettino did voice how the European window was proving to be a distraction.

And there's talk of a return to the end of August deadline in order to avoid a repeat in the coming years.

According to  the Times  the issue of the window closing early will be brought up in a meeting with the Premier League next month, and Manchester United as well as Liverpool are likely to vote to scrap the early closure.

Furthermore, the report states that Spurs and defending Premier League champions Manchester City are also likely to vote in favour of the system reverting back to its old ways.

As reported last month, it's understood there will be no vote until at least November and under Premier League rules, a vote must see a majority of 11 clubs vote to change the current procedures.

However, that was raised to 14 for the vote in 2017 and a similar structure may be in place for any new vote.
