The Premier League's unluckiest players: The stars who hit the woodwork most in 2018/19

With the Premier League season done and dusted, it’s time to see who’s been the most unlucky player of 2018/19.

The stats have come in, and we have a list of 13 names who have been terribly unlucky and hit the woodwork the most times across the season.

There’s a mixture of players within the list from a variety of clubs. We don’t just have the most lethal attackers on there, and some may come as a surprise.

For starters, the PFA Player of the Season made the list.

Virgil Van Dijk hit the woodwork four times in 2018/19 - the same amount as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - meaning that the Liverpool defender could have doubled his tally of four league goals if he'd been a bit more lucky.

Aubameyang, too, could consider himself unfortunate to have hit the woodwork four times, as if any one of those had gone in then he might have won the Golden Boot outright. Having said that, fellow joint-winner Sadio Mane was as close as it comes on five occasions.

But the most unlucky?

Here's how the list looks.
