There were two years between Frank Lampard hanging up his boots and moving into management.
Lampard's playing career ended in MLS with New York City in 2016 and he began his first foray into management in 2018 with Derby County.
In between times, Lampard appeared as a pundit on a number of different platforms, asked for his opinion on various issues, with the goings on at Chelsea always high on the agenda.
That means there are plenty of quotes out in the wide world of the internet from Lampard.
The 42-year-old was named as the new Blues head coach last week, ending weeks of speculation over his future.
And all eyes will be on how he lines up his team, the players that he decides to give a chance to in pre-season ahead of the opening fixture of the new season against Manchester United.
Chelsea are unable to sign players this summer, with a two-window transfer embargo upon them that it appears unlikely to be overturned.
Lampard and his new assistant Jody Morris know only too well the talent at their disposal from the academy, with Morris in particular having worked with the U18s at Cobham for two years before going off to Derby.
Lampard will have seen some of them coming through before leaving the Blues in 2014, and many have suggested that it is their focus on the academy that encouraged the Chelsea hierarchy to put their faith in Lampard and Morris.
And Lampard made a prediction just four months ago that offers an insight into just why he was handed the reins at the Bridge.
Speaking to TalkSport, he said: "Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum [Hudson-Odoi] will look at the likes of Jadon Sancho who has gone out of his comfort zone, which I completely respect as well and has done well.
"But at Chelsea you’ve got a little bunch of players who can try and get the minutes in the first-team, they are the next generation.
"Chelsea have invested heavily in the academy and I’m sure they are going to want to see the fruits of that."
