The predicted Cardiff City XI to play Reading and the fans' selection

The transfer window has been shut for over a week now and we have a far better idea of Cardiff City's strongest XI.

Injury troubles have marred the opening two weekends of the season, however, but manager Neil Warnock believes he has the squad depth to cope with the rigmarole of life in the Championship.

Neil Etheridge and Sol Bamba are two lengthy absentees, while Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Lee Tomlin are touch and go after their recent troubles.

Mendez-Laing has undergone some light training after an injury to his hamstring, while Tomlin did similar on Wednesday in a bid to get back to full health following a nasty bout of gastroenteritis.

Joe Ralls, it has emerged, suffered a shock illness after the win over Luton Town last weekend and spent last Saturday in hospital overnight hooked up to a drip.

Warnock said the midfielder was in with the squad on Thursday and 'feeling good', however a decision is yet to be made over whether he will play a part against Reading on Sunday.

So while Mendez-Laing, Tomlin and Ralls are all on the mend, it appears up in the air whether they will feature in Sunday's starting XI.
