The pre-match moment between Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud which sealed Chelsea's win

Frank Lampard has found a decent Chelsea partnership in Oliver Giroud and Christian Pulisic.

The pair were at the heart of the Blues’s 1-0 win over Norwich City, with the American providing the assist for the French striker.

Chelsea had looked pretty inept up until that moment, which occurred just before half-time, with the Blues enjoying possession but few chances.

Pulisic picked up the ball on the left from Marcos Alonso, before chipping a neat cross on to the head of Giroud, who nodded past Tim Krul.

But it actually appeared to be a moment which was pre-empted before kick-off had even taken place.

The pair were spotted in the tunnel before coming out for the game at Stamford Bridge, deep in conversation over some tactics.

Giroud then made a gesture with his hand to suggest to Pulisic to chip balls into the box for him to get on to.

It certainly worked and it was the exact move which led to the winner.

If the Blues are to secure Champions League football for next year, then that pair are crucial and the partnership is certainly developing.

“Yeah. I hope so, I think so. We clearly saw that with the goal,” Lampard said after the game.

“I was delighted with Christian's movement to run behind on the little angle because that's what we weren't doing enough of in the early stages in the game.

“Oli will always be alive to those in the box. If you're playing Olivier Giroud you want to get balls into the box, you need to play to his strengths, and he gets a really good goal. But the link-up is good.

“It generally could have been better when we're normally a lot slicker with the passing, but again, job done.”
