The Postseason Collection In MLB The Show 25 Is Becoming a Must-Have

The MLB postseason has been great — especially if you’re a Dodgers or Blue Jays fan. It’s turning out to be pretty great for MLB The Show 25 players, too. The Postseason program collection now boasts three of the best cards in the game. And the best part is, they’re all free.

MLB The Show 25 Collections

Collections in MLB The Show 25 typically have some of the very best cards in the game. You have to collect a set number of cards within a series to get them. For example, the Cal Raleigh Home Run Derby card required collecting all seven of the other Home Run Derby cards. To do that, you’d need to either get lucky with the Home Run Derby packs you earned or spend stubs and possibly real-world money on packs or in the marketplace.

The Raleigh card is worth it. It’s still in my lineup in late October. However, a huge problem with MLB The Show 25 has been that the game is increasingly nudging fans toward the store to get the best cards. When it was the occasional Chase pack card, it was mostly OK. This year, though, almost every one of the best cards have been behind a paywall. Fans made their unhappiness known, and we all wanted more access to some of the best players.

The Postseason Series

Sony San Diego appears to have had a “you asked, we listened” moment. The most dedicated fans who have stayed with the game into October are getting treated to some of the best cards in Diamond Dynasty. And the best part is, they’re all free. All they require is your time and a little bit of skill.

The MLB Wild Card, Division Series, and LCS rounds each have their own programs in Diamond Dynasty. There are two programs per round—one for the AL and one for the NL. Every program is loaded with great cards, each of which can be earned just by completing the moments. If you collect enough of the Postseason series cards, you’ll earn the following rewards:

  • 99 OV Aaron Judge – 25 cards
  • 99 OV Shohei Ohtani – 33 cards
  • 99 OV Vladimir Guerrero Jr – 42 cards

Endgame Rewards For Free

If you’ve been playing MLB The Show 25, you probably already know that the Aaron Judge Postseason card is one of the most dominant cards in Diamond Dynasty. But it only gets better from there. Both the NLCS and ALCS MVPs get collection cards as well. In my opinion, they’re both better than the Judge card.

Shohei Ohtani is likely going to be the card to get in MLB The Show 25. He earned this 99 OV card on the heels of a Game 4 performance in the NLCS where he struck out 10 Phillies and hit three home runs. As a result, the card is a starting pitcher card with attributes that position Ohtani among the game’s premier starters. But you can also use him at DH, where he has contact and power attributes that are certainly endgame-worthy.

Guerrero had a great series in an epic ALCS. He gets a first base card with maxed-out offensive attributes against righties and strong ones against southpaws. I’ve always struggled to hit with Judge — maybe it’s the massive strike zone — but both Ohtani and Vladdy are popular cards to have in the first place. These superpowered versions are sure to be in lineups across the game.

The best part is that you don’t have to have any luck or money to get them. Just grind it out, and some of the best cards in the game are yours. It’s a nice change for MLB The Show 25 and, hopefully, a sign of things to come.
