The postman with thousands of followers who hikes up Welsh mountains alongside his rescue dog

A postman has amassed 7,500 followers across social media thanks to his incredible hikes with his rescue dog where they have explored some of the best trails in Wales.

His videos often pan across incredible views including the likes of Snowdonia, the Lake District, Peak District, the Highlands and more.

Every step of the way is his beloved dog Harlow, while they reach the peaks, splash through lakes and explore hidden gems.

Blake Beaven, known as Mrbeaven across Instagram and tiktok has said that among all his adventures, mount Snowdon is his favourite hike.

Speaking to TeamDogs he said: “Best one I’ve done is probably Snowdon at sunset. I went in May and the weather was really good. That’s probably the most memorable one and Harlow was with me.”

Blake uses minimal equipment to shoot the breath-taking footage he posts.

“I literally just use my iPhone. I did have a drone which I did a few videos with but I lost it at the Lake District a few weeks back.

“A bird hit it, it’s quite a common thing, they just take it out of the sky.”

Blake lives in Cannock, Staffordshire, meaning he is not far from the Peak District which he often visits after work.

Wales is also easily reached, so every couple of weeks he takes the opportunity for a change of scenery for a couple of days of hiking with his dog not far behind or often - in front leading the way.

Blake has had Harlow for eight years after originally rescuing him from the RSPCA.

He is a black Labrador with a small amount of Weimaraner mixed in. Labs are known for their trainability which makes him perfect for hiking.

Blake said: “Harlow absolutely loves it. Even when I’m packing my bags at home he knows what’s coming. He just picks it up so quickly.

“He follows the trails and even jumps on the view points for a photo.”

Blake has had Instagram for about eight years but it was only at the beginning of this summer he started posting videos of his hikes.

He soon found he went from 1,000 to 4,000 and now is growing day by day.

Blake finds the more natural videos do better, like one he posted having a beer by a lake in Snowdonia while Harlow splashed around in the water.

“I can’t fake the dog enjoying himself. He loves it,” he said.
