Harvey White was in the headlines on Tuesday evening after playing a huge role in securing an important win for Portsmouth in their promotion push.
Joining Pompey on loan from Tottenham last month, the young midfielder had to make do with six appearances off the bench prior to his first start away at Oxford.
A big night for the player in his career, the 19-year-old ensured it was one to remember as he netted his first goal in senior football with a bullet header after a brilliantly timed run into the area.
Following two successive defeats prior to their trip to Oxford, the victory has moved Kenny Jackett's side to within six points of Lincoln City in second.
Speaking to Hampshire Live about White's performance earlier in the week, Jackett was full of praise for the young midfielder.
"I thought he played very well and in your first start for the club, scoring the winner does get you off and running very well," he explained.
"He was delighted with the goal and he was pleased with the win. I think his overall performance was good."
Operating as a left midfielder, albeit a very narrow one, White's role was rather different to the central one he has played countless times in the past for Tottenham's youngsters.
It is one Pompey fans could be seeing him in a bit more regularly between now and the end of the season, however, and also potentially back at Tottenham later down the line.
"He’s got the balance in terms of his left foot. I do feel at times that certain teams have played through us a little bit too easily and we have needed to narrow up in midfield," added Jackett.
"To do that, the principles of defending are to force people wide and then work and close. At times, we have been slightly too open and too easy to play through.
"For Harvey as an individual, he is capable of playing that position. He delivers well with his left foot as well which is good. He delivers a good set-piece delivery which is a good option for us."
