The position Everton fans most want to see Marco Silva strengthen this summer

Following a rollercoaster maiden Premier League season under Marco Silva, Everton will be looking to push on again under the Portuguese in 2019/20.

The Blues narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Europa League despite finishing the campaign strongly, with a disappointing winter ultimately their undoing.

Everton 's strong finish coincided with Silva settling on what he considered his strongest starting XI, with his squad-sheet largely unchanged for the final weeks of the season.

With the likes of Manchester United set for a transitional summer after stumbling towards the finish line, suffering defeat at Goodison Park along the way, the Blues cannot afford to rest on their laurels next season as they look to break into the Premier League's top six.

Goalkeeper Jonas Lossl looks set to be their first signing of the summer , with Silva vowing to " attack the (transfer) market " as he looks to improve his side.

With loanees Andre Gomes and Kurt Zouma 's long-term futures uncertain, and the likes of Cenk Tosun linked with a summer departure from Goodison Park, the Dane will certainly not be the only new arrival at Goodison.

And with the transfer window re-opening last Thursday, Everton fans all agreed when we asked them what position they most want to see Silva strengthen before the new season.

The majority of fans wanted to see a new striker signed following the Blues well-documented issues in front of goal last season.

"Entirely obvious that we need some more quality up front," said Richard Pearce. "I like Calvert-Lewin's work rate but he needs more than that to become the sort of forward that Everton need."

"Most definitely a striker," agreed Iain Atkinson. "Still haven't replaced Lukaku," while Luigi MB agreed: "A strong proven striker who can be hitting at least 15 in the league."

"Striker - that should be no.1 priority," concurred Craig Mills.

"Established goal scorer," added Dave Smithers. "The others will provide the opportunities for a goal box assassin."

Meanwhile, some fans were more concerned by the Blues bringing back Gomes and Zouma on permanent deals.

"All depends on Zouma and Gomes transfers," said Geoff Fowler. "If we get them I would only go for a out and out goal scorer...oh and right back cover for Seamus, as it is difficult getting up and down that right flank in a Zimmer.

"Striker hopefully, Gomes and Zouma permanent," Phil Brady agreed before Sam Alexander echoed the same sentiments: "Striker is the most important, and then signing Zouma and Gomes."

"Gomes, Zouma and a striker would do. And possibly a backup for Coleman," said Havard Hammarstrom, while Michael Regan felt the same: "20+ goals/season striker, a left winger as good as Richarlison (Bernard is busy but weak, poor in front of goal- need a Sane) and keeping Gomes and Zouma."
