The poignant Wembley dressing room moment that typified Swansea City despite Brentford loss

The play-off final may not have gone the way Swansea City hoped, but there was still room for a touching tribute to much-loved former employee that typified the club despite their Wembley defeat.

The 2-0 defeat to Brentford ensured the Swans would spend another season in the Championship, but for kitman Michael Eames, the trip to Wembley was a chance to keep a tender promise to his late father, Nick.

Nick had previously worked in the club's kit department, alongside his wife Sue and Michael.

Sadly, Nick passed away in January - but his son ensured that his father would be at Wembley to see the Swans bid for Premier League football.

After the final whistle, Michael tweeted a picture of the Swansea City kits in the changing rooms, with a shirt bearing the word 'Dad' and the number '62' hanging up on a peg in the centre of the image

In addition to the picture, he said: "In one of the last conversations I had with my Dad before he passed away he asked me to take a shirt to Wembley with me with his name one. So here it is dad. Hope you are proud."

While Michael continues to work with the club, Nick's wife Sue left the club after 26 years' service last year.

At the time of Nick's passing, Swansea said in a statement: "Everyone at Swansea City would like to send their deepest condolences to the Eames family following the passing of Nick Eames. Nick formerly worked at the club within the kit department alongside his wife Sue and their son Mike. Rest in peace, Nick."

Players Freddie Woodman, George Byers, Ben Wilmot, Bafetimbi Gomis, Mike van der Hoorn, Tom Carroll and Liam Cullen, among others, also all sent their best wishes to the Eames family.
