The playing style one Newcastle United star wants to see from now on under Steve Bruce

Jacob Murphy hopes Newcastle United can continue to play in the same fashion as they did in their dominating win over Leicester City last week.

With the club's Premier League status now secured, attention turns to next season and Murphy wants the style of play seen in the last few games to be taken into pre-season and built upon.

Newcastle beat Leicester 4-2 with some superb counter-attack play, and Murphy wants more of the same.

"The Leicester game was one of our best games this season," he told NUFC TV. "It was a pleasure to be involved in that, we defended really well, we counter-attacked really well, but one thing that was really good for me was how we kept the ball, how we passed it about and worked it out from the back.

"You can see from the fourth goal we scored that everyone had a touch of the ball in possession so these are things we can build on and hopefully we can take this style forward.

"It doesn't happen too often but why can't we make that the norm now for us? Everyone showed in that passage they're comfortable on the ball, so yeah, let's not panic, get the touches on the ball and let's start building.

"Over the last six games, I think the fans will be delighted to see the commitment and togetherness of the team and we've played some really good football - so we just need to maintain the new principles that we've got in our game and to keep building on it.

"To be able to be in the team when we are playing football like that - it's a joy."
