The players linked with a Spurs transfer today including Premier League and Copa America stars

Spurs are expected to be very busy in the transfer market this summer as they look to strengthen for the first time since January 2018.

Having finished fourth and reached a Champions League final in his fifth year as manager, Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to bolster his squad in the aim of bringing a trophy back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time.

Plenty of players have already been linked with a move to Spurs, so here are the latest rumours and reports doing the rounds on Saturday.

James Maddison

Who? The Leicester City star that made a big impact in his first year in the Premier League last season.

Where? Maddison says speculation linking him with a move is "a compliment". The Leicester midfielder is reportedly a target for a host of clubs after an impressive first season in the Premier League with the Foxes, including Spurs. Asked by  Sky Sports News whether a '£60m price tag' and transfer talk will play on his mind at the Euros, he said:

"No, you have just got to ignore that and take it all in your stride. As a 17 year-old boy I’d started five games for Coventry and saw on my phone that I was being linked with Tottenham and Liverpool. With transfer talk you need to take it as a compliment that people are even talking about you, it won’t distract me."

What? While there's no doubting the player's talents, it's hard to see Daniel Levy and Spurs paying that much for the former Norwich City playmaker at present.

Thomas Strakosha

Who? Lazio goalkeeper on the radar of Spurs this summer as they seek a potential long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.

Where? The Serie A side will be asking for £44m for their keeper if clubs want to sign him this summer according to Calciomercato .

What? That's a lot of money for a keeper who would still have to battle Hugo Lloris for the No.1 spot this season - especially when the France keeper still has two years remaining on his contract.

David Neres

Who? Ajax winger who played a key role in the club's run to the Champions League semi-finals, and is now representing Brazil in the Copa America.

Where? Neres has opened the door to a move to England after admitting he is desperate to play in the Premier League. After being linked with Arsenal, Spurs and Everton, he told the Liverpool Echo : "Of course the Premier League interests me. It's the best league in the world, and I've always wanted to play there. But I leave all that in God's hands."

What? Neres is said to be valued at around £40m. That would be approaching Spurs' record transfer (though they are looking to break that record this summer with the potential arrival of Tanguy Ndombele), so it would be a big outlay for someone not guaranteed to start games. Spurs' attacking line is extremely strong - and the arrival of Neres would certainly add plenty of strength in depth.
