Within the city the wards with the highest rates of the virus are Duffryn and Maesglas (244 cases per 100,000 people), Rogerstone (238), and Langstone and Llanwern (226).

What does this data actually mean?
The data is based on the rolling seven-day average between October 20 and October 26.
It is really important to bear in mind that this data is very volatile because it covers such small areas. Where an area has a very small population even one positive case can push up the rate of cases per 100,000 significantly.
You should therefore be cautious about drawing too many conclusions directly from the information.
For example the Duffryn and Maesglas ward and the Victoria and Somerton ward have almost exactly the same number of cases (20 each) but the number of cases per 100,000 of population are very different (244 and 169 respectively).
This is because Victoria and Somerton has a larger population.
