The places in Cardiff where your car is most likely to be broken into or stolen

With fewer drivers on the roads due to the coronavirus outbreak, our cars are spending more time than ever parked up.

A tool created by Co-op Insurance now displays the number of vehicle crimes in a given area, to help you make a careful choice about where to leave your vehicle.

Users can enter a location or postcode anywhere in Wales or England to see the number of crimes which have occurred there.

The tool then uses data from January to June 2019, published by the Home Office, to display the number of vehicle crimes.

It displays three circles: red highlights an area which has had six or more incidents, orange shows places which have had three to five car crimes, and yellow is for zero to two.

You can now use this tool to see which places in Cardiff were the least safe places to park your car.

We looked at which areas closest to the city centre recorded the most incidents. These areas include the city centre, Splott, Adamsdown, Grangetown, Roath, Riverside, Butetown and Plasnewydd.
