The places in Bristol where public toilets are now open

Public toilets have reopened in some Bristol parks.

Park toilets at Blaise Castle in Henbury, Ashton Court in Long Ashton, and Oldbury Court in Fishponds opened on Friday (June 26), following the easing of the coronavirus lockdown.

On the day those facilities reopened, Bristol City Council said other park toilets were expected to open "shortly after".

The council has asked people using the toilets to follow these guidelines:

  • one person only - unless from the same household
  • keep your distance from others. Wait away from entrance, allow others to exit before you enter
  • use hand gel provided, both before and after entering
  • lower toilet lid before you flush, wash your hands for 20 seconds
  • dry hands thoroughly before your exit
  • do not touch bins with your hands.

A council spokesperson said: "Every effort is being made to reopen park toilets in a safe way.

"A phased approach will help us to make sure both staff and residents are not at any increased risk."

Outdoor play parks can reopen on July 4, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said.

The council said on Friday it was "working out ways in which we can reopen sites like play areas and will provide a further update soon".

Bristol Live has asked the council if dates have been confirmed for the reopening of play areas and public toilets across the city.
