Council bosses in Stockport say they remain on 'high alert' over flooding - and are 'making necessary preparations' to take action.
A series of road closures have been announced.
It follows reports of worsening flooding in Stockport and across Greater Manchester.
In Stockport, the council said 'extreme weather conditions' on Thursday have led to the closure of Crossley Road, on the border of Heaton Chapel and Burnage; Bridge Lane, in Bramhall and Bramhall Lane South.
Restrictions will remain on the A555 Airport link road in Stockport until further notice.
The council said: "Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to your journey."
Elsewhere flooding is being reported in areas of Woodley.
In Greater Manchester, five flood warnings remain in place.

They warn flooding is expected and urge people and authorities to take immediate action.
Flood warnings are in force, covering:
Poynton Brook at Poynton and Midway.
Poynton Brook at Wigwam wood and parts of Armcon Business Park.
River Bollin and Agden Brook at Little Bollington.
River Bollin at Heatley.
Timperley Brook at Altrincham.
15 flood alerts - meaning flooding is possible - are in force nationwide.
In Greater Manchester, they cover:
Middle River Mersey catchment including areas near Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston.
River Bollin catchment, including Knutsford, Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Bollington.
River Mersey Uplands catchment including Hyde, Ashton-under-Lyne, Denton, Stalybridge and Glossop.
Stockport council said on Twitter: "We remain on high alert in Stockport and are making the necessary preparations should we need to take any action.
"Your safety is our main priority."
