The places Dublin Airport will let you fly this summer once Green Cert begins

Irish officials will begin circulating digital green passes next week in line with the implementation of the EU travel system, as Dublin Airport expects an influx of sun-seeking passengers.

On July 1, a number of countries began their rollout of the certs ahead of the widespread return of international travel, and now Ireland will follow suit.

Irish passengers will finally be able to travel freely throughout Europe with proof of full vaccination, with all EU member states implementing the eased restrictions, including holiday hotspots like Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal.

Passengers will also be able to use their certs for entry into six non-EU countries that have opted into the system.

They are: Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, and Vatican City.

Earlier today, Ireland’s population that remain unvaccinated were reassured that although the covid certs will be used, if you don't have one you can still travel.

All of the documentation that is currently accepted, including negative PCR tests will still grant passengers permission to travel.

Speaking to RTE’s Morning Ireland, the minister said: “This will speed up the system, but if for any reason you don’t have a cert, if you’re not vaccinated, you can still travel on your existing documentation.”

Meanwhile, if you’re planning a trip to one of the usual holiday hotspots, passengers should be aware that some countries still have major restrictions in place to deal with Covid-19.

Portugal for instance has a curfew in place for bars and restaurants, which means they must close at 10:30 pm on weekdays and 3:30 pm on weekends.

You can check in on all of the updated restrictions at your holiday destination by checking DFA.ie.
