The 2022 Philadelphia Phillies will never be forgotten, no matter what happens over the rest of the World Series. They will be in the history books forever and everyone will get a good chuckle when they remember why.
The Phillies suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in sports history last night when they were no-hit by the Houston Astros in Game 4 of the Fall Classic. That’s as bottom of the barrel as you can go when it comes to playing in a World Series game.
On the biggest stage of the game.
In front of the entire world.
Not. A. Single. Hit.
Oooooooof.
Kyle Schwarber tried to play it off with the most Philadelphia reaction ever but this one had to hurt and hurt bad.
Oh, and they did it in front of their home fans, which makes things even worse. All those Phillies fans came out for a fun night of baseball, hoping to watch more home runs sail over the fences while high-fiving everyone around them, drinking a ton of adult drinks, and watching their team get a win closer to a title.
Instead, they didn’t get to see a single gosh darn hit from any of their guys.
Imagine how sad and quiet that walk out of the stadium must have been?
Imagine how dejected they all must have felt when they finally got home, tossed their keys on the table and got into bed, knowing they had just lived a nightmare in front of the whole world?
The horror!
It’s just the second time in this history of this game (which started being played like 900 years ago) that a team hasn’t gotten a single hit in a World Series game, which is just wild and makes it all the more embarrassing.
The Astros needed four pitchers to get it done, too, which is more sad for Phillies hitters. You couldn’t get a hit off any of them?
Yikes.
Also, congrats to the Astros pitchers – Cristian Javier, Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly – because that was pretty darn impressive.
The Phillies will now have to regroup pretty quickly because tonight is Game 5 back in the stadium where they didn’t get a hit last night. Who knows, maybe this is a good thing for them and they explode tonight for like five home runs and double-digit runs. It very well could happen. This Phillies team has been on fire for like the last month.
But last night was bad. Historically bad. And nobody will ever forget it.
