The Philippe Coutinho decision that could have a huge impact on Man United and Jadon Sancho

Chelsea have emerged as a leading contender for Philippe Coutinho's signature.

The Brazilian has struggled to assert himself in the Barcelona side following a £142million move from Liverpool in 2018.

And he has spent this season on loan with German giants Bayern Munich.

However, it is unlikely that the German side will make that loan move a permanent one, leaving Coutinho somewhat in limbo.

Barcelona want him of the wage packet and are keen to offload him this summer, although he will not come cheap as the Catalans attempt to recoup as much of the £142million outlay as possible.

Reports have suggested that Barca will accept a fee in the region of £80million, but given the coronavirus crisis even that could prove to be too much for Premier League clubs to take a punt.

Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Coutinho this summer, with no indication as yet whether they would be interested in completing the transfer.

The Blues have primarily been linked with a move for flying Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho this summer, but they are not the only ones interested.

Manchester United are also in the hunt for Sancho and any Coutinho decision Chelsea make could have an impact on Sancho's future too.

Given the financial implications of the coronavirus outbreak, it would seem unlikely Chelsea would shell out huge sums on two creative players, especially given they have already signed Hakim Ziyech.

And ESPN believe that Chelsea have turned their attentions to Coutinho because they fear Sancho will complete a transfer to Old Trafford.
