The Pharmacist: Netflix's new true-crime documentary with a twist

Netflix is about to release a new documentary that presents a true-crime tale with a twist.

The Pharmacisttracks the story of Dan Schneider, a man based in Poydras, Louisiana, who attempts to identify the person who killed his son during a drug deal.

“The police have the attitude that these kids maybe got what they deserved, but I was determined to get the killer of the street and if the police wasn’t gonna do it, I was gonna do it,” he explains.

What started as a hunt for justice became something else altogether after Schneider began noticing a large quantity of teenagers were being prescribed a ”high-powered” opioid by a doctor in New Orleans.

He began investigating the “pill mill” in an attempt to save his community – something that began causing trouble for the DEA and FBI when Schneider gained nationwide attention.

Schneider himself began fearing for his life. In the trailer, he can be seen recording a message that says he’s being followed.

”I have hundreds of hours from wire-tapping phone conversations about what happened to me,” he says, adding: “I’m not gonna let this drug continue to kill.”

The Pharmacist will be released on Netflix on 5 February. Find a full list of every movie and TV show being added this month here.
