Having a former senior BBC executive as the head of your Oxford college has its advantages. Not only will the good students of St Peter's College (master: Mr Mark Damazer, ex-controller of Radio 4) be playing host to former director general Mark Thompson's lectures this week, they heard from Radio 3 controller and Proms director Roger Wright last month on the challenges of broadcasting classical music. No word on whether Radio 1 breakfast DJ Nick Grimshaw will also be spinning the wheels of steel at the college ball.
