"The perfect name": BBC Breakfast presenter Phil McCann goes viral after going live from petrol station

BBC Breakfast presenter Phil McCann has gone viral on Twitter this morning after reporting the petrol shortage with the perfect name.

Phil McCann filmed in the forecourt of a petrol station in Stockport as he updated viewers on the situation at the pumps.

However, viewers were quick to praise BBC bosses for "sending the right man out to the job" with his name seeming too much like a perfect coincidence.

One watcher said: " @TheSimpsons couldn’t have written anything funnier than that. Well played #BBCBreakfast "

Another said: "Well played @BBCBreakfast Sending Phil McCann to cover the petrol panic buying. Genius level choice of reporter!"

With a third adding: "Most unfortunate name of the day Phill McCann but I can't."

Phil replied to the jokers, saying: "It’s like being back in year 9! #nominativedeterminism "

One of his pals also commented on Twitter, saying: "One of my best mates, Phil McCann, is the No. 1 trend in the UK this morning. I’ve been laughing about his name since 2003. What a morning!"
