The percentage of people in each area of Nottinghamshire who have tested positive for Covid-19

New figures have revealed what percentage of the population in each part of Nottinghamshire has tested positive for Covid-19, with the city recording the highest figure.

The data shows that more than seven percent of residents in the city have been infected by the virus since the start of the pandemic last February.

The figures are calculated by taking the total number of cases in each area and dividing them by the estimated total population, to find out exactly what proportion of residents have recorded a positive test.

And in Nottingham city, 7.45 percent of the city's estimated 332,900 population have recorded positive tests since the first case was recorded almost a year ago.

This is using data recorded on Saturday, January 23, which showed a total of 24,816 cases across the city.

Outside the city, most areas have recorded roughly the same percentage of cases since the pandemic began - figures roughly between 4.5 percent and six percent.

Broxtowe district has recorded the highest percentage of all the districts and boroughs, at 5.88 percent, followed by neighbouring Ashfield with 5.61 percent.

Rushcliffe and the Newark and Sherwood district have recorded the smallest percentages, at 4.58 percent and 4.50 percent respectively, while Bassetlaw, Gedling and Mansfield's percentages range between 5.38 and 5.50 percent.

Below are the figures for each area in Nottinghamshire, which read: local authority area; percentage of infections compared to the total population; the number of total cases as of January 23; and most recent data for population figures.

Ashfield - 5.61 percent (7,175 cases, population 127,900)

Bassetlaw - 5.38 percent (6,080 cases, population 113,000)

Gedling - 5.39 percent (6,355 cases, population 117,900)

Mansfield - 5.50 percent (5,992 cases, population 109,000)

Newark and Sherwood - 4.50 percent (5,512 cases, population 122,400)

Nottingham City - 7.45 percent (24,816 cases, population 332,900)
