The people behind Pasta Loco are opening two new restaurants in Bristol

The team behind two of Bristol’s most successful restaurants are launching not one but TWO new openings in the city.

Cousins Dominic Borel, Ben Harvey and Joe Harvey, who run Pasta Loco and Pasta Ripiena is the tiny new Bristol restaurant hundreds of people are desperate to eat at , are opening a small Italian ‘cantina’ in the city centre and a new eatery in what used to be Bell's Diner, in Montpelier.

Called La Sorella: Food and Wine, it will be on the St Stephen’s Street site previously occupied by Hanoi Coffee Co, just two doors from Pasta Ripiena – which a Telegraph food critic said was so good it brought them 'tears of joy'.

La Sorella: Food and Wine will be stocking its own brand of homemade fresh, stuffed and cut pasta, along with selected cheeses and meats. Baker Frankie Parry Jones will make bread and cakes on site each day and Bristol roasters Brian Wogan is creating a bespoke coffee for the cantina.

Dominic Borel says: “The joy of a cantina is that you can eat in or take-away, so nobody misses out. Whether you have five minutes or a couple of hours, you’ll be met with the sort of welcome and produce that our team have built their reputation on at Pasta Loco and Pasta Ripiena.

“Customers dropping in for lunch or an after-work aperitivo, might choose to tailor their own antipasti board or sample a great glass of wine, expertly sourced for La Sorella by Bristol wine merchant Raj Soni of RS Wines."

La Sorella: Food and Wine will open in the spring and it’s the first of two openings planned by the family, who have recently acquired the Bell’s Diner site in Montpelier.

Bell’s Diner closed suddenly earlier this year after more than 40 years and the new owners plan to reopen it with a different name as an Italian trattoria.

Dominic says: “We couldn’t resist the site as Bell’s Diner was a legendary restaurant and we grew up nearby. We still have a lot to do there but we hope to open in the summer. Watch this space!”
