The New England Patriots favored one particular play, “G-Lead,” against the Buffalo Bills in a 14-10 win on Monday night. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels liked that play so much that he called it again and again and again, like Herb Brooks sending his players on suicides in the movie Miracle.
During the game, the wind gusted up to around 60 miles per hour, with a steady blow of about 28 miles per hour. So New England steered clear of their rookie quarterback, Mac Jones, who had never played in such foul weather during his high school career in Jacksonville and his college career at Alabama. The Patriots hammered the football with their running backs. And New England didn’t need much variety in its run game. The Pariots just pounded away, running G-Lead to the right, then the left, then the right.
