The Patriots opt-outs have everyone making the same Trevor Lawrence joke on Twitter

The New England Patriots are losing major contributors for the 2020 season, with stars like Dont’a Hightower, Patrick Chung, Marcus Cannon and others opting out due to concerns about the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The team is beginning to look so diminished that many have gone back to thinking the team is going to tank in 2020. Of course, this is a far-fetched notion. Bill Belichick doesn’t like losing. He elected to bring in Cam Newton for 2020 to help with the departure of Tom Brady. It’s clear New England wants to win this year.

But that didn’t stop folks on Twitter from making the same joke about the Patriots tanking for Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is widely considered the best prospect at the position since Andrew Luck. Lawrence is expected to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
