The New England Patriots made their first uniform change in 20 years, and the team’s fans don’t seem thrilled with the result.
There is one problem with it: No Pat Patriot. The jersey doesn’t feature the team’s old logo, an image of a player in a 3-point stance. New England switched to the flying elvis in 1993.
“Our primary uniforms in the modern era have been blue and white and they will remain so,” Kraft Sports and Entertainment CMO Jen Ferron said, via Patriots.com. “We recognize that fans also have an affinity for the red ‘throwback’ uniform and we hope to incorporate that into our uniform rotation in the future.”

The jersey is, for the most part, the same thing the Patriot have been wearing as their alternate, color-rush uniform. New England simply changed the font for the numbers and nameplates while adding color-blocked socks. Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter.
Patriots fans may be a little harsh about the change. The jersey looks just fine — and certainly is an upgrade over their previous and outdated uniforms. Maybe it wasn’t a huge step forward, but it should be a change that fans like. It’s clean and modern design. And maybe it’s familiar, because they’ve already worn it. But at least they know they’re 6-1 in these jerseys. Perhaps that bodes well, as they venture into a new era without Tom Brady.
I just hope they’ll be willing to change it again in the coming years, especially if they find a way to incorporate the Pat Patriot logo.
