The Patriots let up a big TD to the Jets, and NFL fans all made the same joke

The New York Jets took the lead against the New England Patriots in Week 9, and NFL fans saw a window to make jokes about Bill Belichick’s team — and not Adam Gase’s team — tanking in 2020 to land a quarterback atop the draft.

Quarterback Joe Flacco delivered a beautiful pass for a 50-yard touchdown to receiver Breshad Perriman, who toasted cornerback J.C. Jackson. With cornerback Stephon Gilmore injured, Jackson was the team’s top corner on Monday night. But it didn’t look like it on this drive, with Jackson allowing 67 yards in receptions while committing a defensive pass interference. And, of course, he allowed Flaccos’ long touchdown pass. Here’s a look.

This is the play that inspired the jokes about the Patriots tanking.

The Patriots are in rough shape.
