The Patriots are likely shutting down Julian Edelman for the 2020 season

As the Patriots get set to take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, New England did not activate receiver Julian Edelman from injured reserve. As noted by Ian Rapoport of NFL network, it is unlikely that he plays next week.

This season, Edelman recorded 21 catches for 315 yards. His best game of the season came against Seattle on September 20. In that game, he caught eight passes for 179 yards, a career-high.

With New England shutting him down for the rest of the season, one has to wonder what his time in New England will look like over the next couple of months.

With over 6,000 receiving yards and a Super Bowl MVP to his name, he has made the most of his 12 seasons in New England. One has to wonder what the future holds for 2021.
