The Palm in Sunderland offering food discounts and free cocktails to Thomas Cook staff and customers

We probably all know someone who's been affected by Thomas Cook's dramatic collapse, whether they be a holiday rep, cabin crew or someone who's had their trip aboard ruined.

And a bar is making a good will gesture to all of those who've felt the repercussions of the famous holiday form going under by offering discounts and free tipples.

The Palm in Sunderland , which is owned by the same people who have As You Like It in Newcastle, revealed on Facebook that they'd be laying on some special deals for all those who've been affected by Thomas Cook going bust.

Posting on Facebook, the bar and restaurant wrote "We are so sad to see the closure of Thomas Cook, but more importantly hard working people losing their jobs and holidays that they’ve saved for.

"We would like to offer any employee of Thomas Cook or customer affected recently 25% off their food bill or a cocktail on us should they wish to visit.

"Just pop in with proof of employment or holiday purchase any day up until September 30 before 6.30pm.

"We are also hiring bar staff, hosts and Sales so please send over your CV to us."

The Palm is a huge venue, offering many different areas to include a variety of food and drink, and is situated on the outskirts of Sunderland on Timber Beach Road.
