The overwhelming fan reaction to West Ham's alleged £7m bid for Cardiff City's Neil Etheridge

Neil Etheridge is the subject of an alleged £7m bid from Premier League outfit West Ham and it certainly has Cardiff City fans talking.

The Bluebirds goalkeeper was dropped for the South Wales derby clash with bitter rivals Swansea City on Sunday, which appeared to be a big call from manager Neil Harris.

But Harris explained that due to speculation surrounding Etheridge's future, of such an important fixture.

And now it appears to make sense, with claiming that the Irons have lodged a huge bid to take Etheridge to the London Stadium this month.

It is thought the offer is worth an initial £6m with a further £1m in add-ons.

With Alex Smithies a more than capable deputy and Joe Day also waiting in the wings, many City supporters believe the club would be silly to turn down such a sizeable offer, especially considering there are more pressing areas of the squad which needs strengthening.

There is, of course, a lot of appreciation for Etheridge and many cite his stellar service to the club so far, but there is a realistic view from Cardiff fans regarding just how far that fee could go in terms of overhauling the squad this month.
