I was disappointed to see that alongside your coverage of Sunday’s Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race, you didn’t have room to spare for the other boat race taking place on the Thames – the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race. Starting on Saturday on the Kennet and Avon canal, 140 two-person crews took on the non-stop race, paddling 125 miles through the night and finishing at Westminster on Easter Sunday.
Unfortunately, a final stage on Easter Monday was cancelled due to the severe weather warnings, but that didn’t stop a number of teams from completing the race on foot. While not as much of a draw to the advertisers and sponsors, this event deserves more recognition from the national media.
