The original Spice Bus from the Spice Girls film has been turned into an Airbnb

The iconic Spice Bus has been converted into Airbnb accommodation by a Spice Girls superfan from Greater Manchester.

The Union Jack-painted double decker featured in the girl band's 1997 film Spice World and has since travelled around the UK as part of the SpiceUp exhibition.

It will only be bookable for two nights initially, parking up at Wembley Park in London to coincide with the Spice Girls' reunion tour dates at Wembley Stadium. Guests will be able to stay overnight on June 14 and 15, with bookings open from May 22.

In its heyday the bus boasted swings, beanbags and an exercise bike, but the space now has much more low-key decor - though still with nods to the pop band.

There are still nods to the 90s in the refurbished Airbnb (PA)

Pink Union Jack cinema-style seats and a neon 'Girl Power!' sign have both been fitted downstairs, and upstairs there's a zebra-print carpet that Mel B would be proud of and a basket full of hair scrunchies.

A mass karaoke night is coming to Manchester, featuring sing-along hits from The Greatest Showman, Frozen and Grease

It will also be stocked with vintage 90s magazines and CDs.

There are enough beds to sleep three guests upstairs, while downstairs is a dining area and a large flat-screen TV. There's even a small dressing area where fans can recreate their own Posh Spice moment.

This will be the first time fans have ever been able to stay on the Spice Bus.

The bus has been transformed with natural wood and white panelled walls, plus dozens of house plants and colourful cushions - a surprisingly sophisticated spin on its past life.

Host Suzanne Godley said: "The Spice Girls were my childhood obsession. My parents were subjected to my tone-deaf performances as Baby Spice, and I must have watched the Spice World movie hundreds of times. And while I have grown up over the years, I don’t think I’ve ever grown out of my love for them.

"When my boss mentioned that he was considering buying the Spice Bus I was desperate to be a part of its renovation. We’ve worked hard over the past few months to turn the bus into a home, in keeping with its legacy, and I’m so excited to open it up to the public with the support of Airbnb.

"Being part of this project has been like a dream come true and I can’t wait to meet other Spice Girls fans through this experience."

Bookings for the Spice Bus will open on May 22 at Airbnb
