The ordinary semi-detached home that’s the most-viewed property in Wales

With the average house price in Wales climbing to a record £245,893 according to Principality Building Society, it's not a surprise to find that the most activity on Zoopla, the online property portal, has been significantly around houses around this price level.

Across September the top ten houses that attracted the most attention saw five houses under the £280,000 level, with each house offering either space or potential within a suburban setting.

Going up to the next rung on the property ladder sees the top ten list move to Pwllheli and a very handsome townhouse that sprawled upwards across four storeys, had super slick interiors and a front garden big enough for playing football.

The list has one auction property that has a guide of £750,000 but will surely go for more as it comes with a renovated house, two cottages in the garden and oodles of land.

And, of course, there are a few dream homes in the list too, with the majority of the online viewers unlikely to ever be able to afford them, but we can all daydream about a dream home sometimes, can't we?

On the list is a £1.35m pad that will make the horses happy as there's facilities and an abundance of space for them too. The other dream home is an amazing James Bond-style super special contemporary home that comes with its own castle tower - a modern, slick take on an ancient stone version.

But the most viewed house across Wales in September 2022 via Zoopla was a pretty standard looking three-bed semi-detached home in Ynysforgan, north of Swansea. But it is a house packed with more space than the normal semi-detached home, but appears to be the type of home currently popular with house hunters.

1. Near Swansea: £250,000

The attractive curved steps lead up to the front door past some pretty flowering plants and a majestic tree next door at this house in Ynysforgan, near Swansea. But the smart brick facade hides more space than you might imagine when standing on the pavement; it's a bit of a Tardis house.

From the hall there's a study and cloakroom to the left and a large, combined lounge and dining room to the right. The kitchen is at the rear, next to the dining area, so a simple job of removing the dividing wall could create a substantial L-shaped living space, if that is what the new owner desires.

Up the stairs and there are three bedrooms and a bathroom in a standard house format, with modern decor and a smart appearance that suggests the house is well-loved.

Outside there's a sunny patio and a garden room at the end of the outdoor space, perfect for sheltering from the rain or direct sunshine. But that's not the extra space that's the surprise at this house.

Where the tree stands next to the driveway and what looks like another house is actually a cute, detached annexe with its own front door. The single-storey bonus has a lounge, currently being used as a gym, a bedroom with ensuite shower room and a kitchen.

The kitchen has been recently extended and modernised, with a beautiful island as the centrepiece. Throughout the property, there is a feel of quality materials used for the construction, with oak doors, oak staircase and floor-to-ceiling tiled bathrooms.
