The Open 2018 - LIVE: Latest scores, leaderboard, news and updates from Carnoustie with Rory McIlroy in contention
The 147th Open Championship is well underway.
The oldest tournament in golf returns to Carnoustie, one of the most fearsome courses on the rotation, for what promises to be a true test of the golfing elite. The weather won't isn't playing ball though. After a hot summer the Angus course is baked to a crisp giving even the tour's shortest hitters a chance to blast their way around this week. But watch out for those fairway traps.
A bit of confusion on the 18th green. Erik Van Rooyen dislodges his marker after clumsily dropping his putter, but there is no penalty.
He strokes in the par putt to finish with a 71 and at -4 for the tournament. A good start for the debutant, who will look to push on tomorrow on moving day.
Kevin Kisner has clear water at the top of the leaderboard. A two on the 13th, his fourth birdie of the day, takes him to -7, and he follows it up with a four on the 14th to extend that lead.
A lovely moment for Sandy Lyle. In his 43rd and final Open, the 1985 Champion takes the applause of the crowd as he crosses the Barry Burn on to the eighteenth green. He finishes with a 76, his final Open shot a superb birdie putt.
A birdie on the par-three eighth for Pat Perez. The burly American veteran gets to -4. His best major finish came at the USPGA Championship in 2005 when he finished in a tie for sixth place.
Tiger Woods hit a stunning iron on to the 18th green and is in superb position to finish with a birdie and under par after two rounds for the first time at a major since the 2015 Masters.
He takes his time. Two practice strokes. Left-to-right, and no...
Woods pushes it right, and it is two 71s. Level par.
