The only six places in Wales where Covid cases are rising at the moment

Of the 22 local authorities in Wales just six have seen an increase in their coronavirus infection rates over the last seven days.

Anglesey has seen the largest rise in Covid with a 23% increase in its rates in a week - marking a sustained period of increases for the area. WalesOnline has compared Public Health Wales data to see the places in Wales where the virus is spreading most quickly. We compared the figures released on December 3 with seven days before.

These figures are seven-day rolling totals for new cases adjusted for population (per 100,000 people). It is important to remember that though these figures are a useful guide they are just part of the story. If testing massively increases in one place there is likely to be a rise in confirmed cases. However these figures are still a vital factor in Welsh Government and Public Health Wales decision-making.

The latest seven-day infection rate across Wales based on the cases for every 100,000 people (for the seven days up to November 28) now stands at 470 . See the table at the bottom of this article for all the latest figures across Wales.

Though six areas of Wales have seen an increase only three of those have seen a growth in Covid of more that 1%. These are listed below.

Anglesey

This part of Wales has seen a growth of 23% in seven days putting it with the third highest rate in Wales.

Newport

Newport has seen a rise of nearly 13% which now puts it above the national average.

Torfaen

Though there's been a small rise, Torfaen has actually been on a downward trajectory for several weeks.

This table shows the growth rates in every local authority:
