'The only one' - Manchester United fans predict Erik ten Hag thinking vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United supporters continue to speculate exactly what incoming manager Erik ten Hag is thinking as he watches on from the stands at Selhurst Park this afternoon. Ten Hag arrived in the UK earlier this week.

It was confirmed during the build-up to this final day encounter with Crystal Palace that Ten Hag would attend and get a first opportunity to watch his players in the flesh. However, while there was a bright enough start from United that could not prevent them from slipping behind at the break.

Wilfried Zaha opened the scoring against his former club to give Ten Hag plenty to ponder at half-time. Of course, the Dutchman was not in south London in an official capacity as he instead arrived before kick-off and took his seat alongside football director John Murtough and newly-appointed United assistant Mitchell van der Gaag.

In his last game before handing over the baton, interim manager Ralf Rangnick made four alterations to the United line-up as academy graduate Hannibal Mejbri was handed his first senior start. That comes after he played a key role for the U23s in their FA Youth Cup triumph this season - alongside Alvaro Fernandez and Alejandro Garnacho.

Cristiano Ronaldo was not named in the matchday squad for the trip to Palace, while Dean Henderson, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford were also left out for various reasons. Ten Hag made his way to the Selhurst Park stadium with Steve McClaren and a handful of other people.

Before that man Zaha opened the scoring, there were one or two positives to add to his notes. However, there has been precious little to savour following that strike as United supporters outline their views on social media platform Twitter;
