Gang member Mirella Ponce was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm and booked into Fresno County Jail after she was pulled over with her infant child and two other gang members in the vehicle.
Once her mug shot was posted on social media by the Fresno Police Department on Monday though, there wasn't much outcry about Ponce's lifestyle or comments critical of her actions as a mother.
Instead, much of the reaction centered on her appearance.
The Fresno Police Department post of Ponce's photo was shared more than 2,000 times as of Tuesday night.
One of the most liked comments, written by a man named Sotero Sanchez, read: "The only crime she committed was stealing my heart."
Others offered to pay her bail, though it was unclear if they were being serious or joking.
"Ima just go bail her out. Free this hot gangster chick," wrote Evo Ten.
Some women complimented Ponce for her makeup and eyebrows.
Facebook user Tiffani DaDon tried to put her actions into context: "The girl is pretty but she wrong for riding dirty with her baby. Very simple."
Ponce, 20, does not smile in the mug shot but stares into the camera.
Tattoos on her neck and upper chest are quite visible, including a red rose inked by her throat.
Another tattoo says: "Love is Pain."
In addition to the mugshot of Ponce, the Fresno PD shared a photo of Ponce's purple gun, which also generated strong reaction.
"I don't know what's cuter, her or this gun," Facebook user Isaac Siliga commented.
