The One Where: Friends Reunion delayed due to coronavirus

We were all absolutely buzzing about the Friends Reunion, it's exactly what we need at a time like this, but due to the coronavirus, the filming for the hit show has been delayed.

It was set to film next week on March 23 and 24, but like most TV production companies, has had to abandon filming due to health and safety.

It was only last month that the star-studded cast announced that they were taking part in a reunion special and fans couldn't contain their excitement.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer were all set to appear in the show.

According to E! News, Warner Bros who produce friends released a statement:

"With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin," they said. "There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any of our productions, but the health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based."

Friends, which ran for 10 series and racked up 236 episodes, first aired in 1994.

The comedy, which is set in New York, followed a group of young friends living in Manhattan as they try to navigate life as young adults.

The last episode of the show was broadcast in 2004 and ended with a shot of the cast all leaving the keys to their apartment on the kitchen counter before heading out for a goodbye coffee with each other.

The Friends reunion special is amongst a long list of shows to be delayed as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic all over the world.

British soaps have had to half their airtime in two in a bid to 'ration' out episodes as filming for them has also been suspended.
