The one Tottenham change Mauricio Pochettino must make ahead of Brighton trip

Former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has identified the key change he feels Mauricio Pochettino should make after watching his side suffer a humiliating 7-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Son Heung-Min gave Spurs the lead but Joshua Kimmich hit back for the visitors, before Robert Lewandowski gave the Germans a 2-1 edge at the break.

Harry Kane scored from the spot in the second half but four goals from Serge Gnabry and another from Lewandowski ensured a shocking defeat for Spurs.

Crouch believes that Tottenham were particularly weak in defence, insisting that both full-backs were exposed by the Bayern wide players.

The former England star feels that Spurs need more protection for their defence heading into the Premier League fixture at Brighton on Saturday and Crouch has explained what Pochettino must alter.

"It’s a big game against Brighton and it’s one that they are expected to win," Crouch told BT Sport."There is a game against Watford after that and it’s a big period for Tottenham.

"I think you are sometimes the best player in the world when you don’t play.

"Eric Dier was sat there on the bench and the back four need protection.

"He is a ready made replacement and I think he will have a part to play."

Crouch also added that he feels certain members of the squad need to step up after the embarrassing defeat.

"People have been questioning the characters all season and a result like this is only going to lead to more questions," Crouch added.
