The one thing Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs team have failed to do so far this season

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has claimed that Saturday's game at Brighton & Hove Albion has now become even more important following their Champions League nightmare on Tuesday evening.

Drawing 2-2 with Olympiacos in their first European fixture after initially leading 2-0, Spurs were pummelled in their own yard as Bayern Munich claimed a stunning 7-2 victory in the capital.

It now means that the German side are five points ahead of Mauricio Pochettino's team in Group B and it could well go down to the last game again as the Lilywhites look to make the knockout phase.

A repeat of their performance in the first half and the team will definitely be in a good position to qualify after troubling the Bundesliga leaders a number of times in the opening 45 minutes.

It appeared that Spurs were back to their best as they got in Bayern's faces early on and Lloris has admitted that the team have so far yet to play with the same intensity for 90 minutes this term.

"We cannot pick one player more than another, it is a collective failure," he said. "We need to find a solution to find the consistency that was our strength in the last few years.

"Since the start of the season we have never played at the same intensity for 90 minutes.

"As you see we’re used to playing in a way that demands a lot of energy and focus, and at this level the opponent punishes you when you start to lose easy balls close to the box.

"Today we feel bad for the badge, we feel bad for the fans and now it is to show a reaction on Saturday.

"This game has become even more important for us."

Clearly a dismal day at the office for Spurs and one they will want to forget about very soon, the World Cup winner did hail the visitors and praised their clinical finishing in front of goal.

"The second goal just before half-time was painful for the team and we were never able to come back into the game," he added.

"They punished us. I think they showed respect to us because it is the stamp of the big club, when they have the chance they kill you. This is what happened in the last 10 minutes.

"I feel really bad for the fans mainly because we gave up a little bit too easily and the score was even worse.

"It is a night that affects a lot. Now it’s about character, clearing the mind.

"They were very clinical. It’s important to mention it.

"I don’t think the level of both teams is far away like the score today, but we need to accept they were much better than us."
