The one thing Jurgen Klopp will finally allow his Liverpool players to do following Champions League glory

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will finally give his players permission to touch the 'This is Anfield' sign following their Champions League success.

The Reds defeated Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid on Saturday to land their first piece of silverware under the German boss.

Klopp will now permit his squad to touch the sign which hangs above the tunnel at Anfield after originally forbidding them to do so.

Speaking in 2016 the 51-year-old said: "I've told my players not to touch the 'This Is Anfield' sign until they win something.

"It's a sign of respect. I touched it when I was manager of Borussia Dortmund but we lost 4-0."

The Liverpool coach won the Champions League at the third time of asking at the weekend, having previously lost in the final with Dortmund in 2013 and the Reds last year.

"I will start touching it when Liverpool have won something. This is a really big club and the history is a mountain," Klopp added.

Skipper Jordan Henderson was the only member of this current squad able to touch the frame of the famous sign after the midfielder won the League Cup in 2012.

From next season there will be a queue of players lining up to to tap the frame as they make their way onto the pitch.
