The one thing Jose Mourinho's Spurs side cannot use as an excuse for Manchester United defeat

Tottenham will be looking to bounce back immediately on Saturday against Burnley following their 2-1 defeat at Manchester United on Wednesday evening.

Heading into the game at Old Trafford on the back of three successive wins under Jose Mourinho, his unbeaten run came to an end following Marcus Rashford's double.

The result means that the team are now nine points behind Chelsea again after the Blues returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the capital.

It has been all action in Mourinho's two weeks in charge with the team playing every few days due to their involvement in the Champions League and a rare midweek Premier League fixture list.

Jose Mourinho full press conference after Man United defeat

It actually won't be until after the Wolves game on Sunday, December 15 when the team have a full week off ahead of their crunch clash against Frank Lampard's side at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thus meaning that it will once again be only a few days here and there on the training pitch trying to learn the new head coach's ways.

Speaking after the defeat at Old Trafford, Son Heung-min was asked about the lack of time on the training pitch and he made it clear that it shouldn't be used as a reason for their first defeat in the league since the end of October.

"I think this cannot be an excuse because every single team play every three days," he told reporters.

"It can't be an excuse. We know we can do better and we have to do better."

Spurs just didn't lay a glove on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team during the defeat and, amid the disappointment, Son has said the team just need to remain positive ahead of the clash against Burnley on Saturday.

"Of course I don't want to lose any single game," added the South Korean. "I think the four games in 10-12 days have been crazy fast.

"Some positives, some not great things. We have to work this kind of thing.

"In two weeks we have three wins and one defeat. I'm still thinking positive, of course I don't want to take the negative things.

"I want to be positive for the team, for the staff and for the club."
