The One Show viewers annoyed over 'rushed' Tom Jones interview as he shares late wife Linda's final wishes

The One Show viewers found themselves annoyed by the show during an interview with Sir Tom Jones.

The legendary Welsh singer was on the BBC One programme to chat to Alex Jones and Michael Ball about his new album.

It also became highly emotional when Sir Tom, 80, talked about his late wife Linda's final days prior to her death from lung cancer.

Appearing via video link, he told the hosts about how each song on his album, Surrounded By Time, relates to different parts of his life.

“I was there in the hospital room with her for the last 10 days."

He went on to recall what Linda said to him when he told her he didn't think he'd be able to sing again once she was gone.

"And I said, 'My God Linda, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself, because I won't be able to sing, I won't be able to get the words out," Sir Tom said.

"She said, 'You must!' She said, 'Don't fall with me, you know, I got to go, but you don't have to'."

Getting choked up, he added that Linda said: "'And you got to go and do what we planned to do,' which was to move back to London, 'Like I planned to do but I just ran out of time'."

Host Alex also looked emotional as he recalled he late wife's wishes.

But fans were angered over the 'rushed' nature of the chat.

"Love how guests get rushed along #theoneshow," a third added.

But many fans were happy to see him back on screen.

"@RealSirTomJones My days, you are simply amazing. You have the voice of a man half your age. Simply magical. #TheOneShow," gushed one fan.

Another said: "Tom Jones what a legend. #theoneshow."

"Wow Tom you were brilliant as always," a third added.
