The ACT government and police have confirmed the new law passed to decriminalise cannabis possession and cultivation will not apply to residents of the Jervis Bay Territory.
Confusion arose on Thursday after some media reported the laws might apply to Jervis Bay.
Member for Fenner Andrew Leigh confirmed the exemptions won't apply to Jervis Bay.
"The exemption to the offence only applies for possession or cultivation in the ACT," Mr Lee said.
"That does not include the Jervis Bay Territory."

On Wednesday, the ACT Legislative Assembly passed a law to decriminalise and remove any penalty for possessing up to 50 grams of dry cannabis, or 150 grams of "fresh cannabis", and for growing up to two plants.
Any hydroponic growing, sale or possession of an amount over the limits will still be illegal under the new laws.
For ACT residents the laws don't come into force until January 31, 2020 when it's signed off by the ACT Health Minister.
