The one moment during PSG's cup game that should concern Arsenal fans amid Layvin Kurzawa talks

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa this month.

The Gunners are searching for reinforcements to their backline, and football.london understands the France international left-back is a target.

According to France Football, Kurzawa has agreed a five-year-deal in principle with the Gunners which will see him arrive at the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer in the summer.

The reports says that negotiations between the two parties are at an advanced stage with only his signing bonus still to be agreed.

The deal means that Kurzawa will stay at PSG for the remainder of his contract, before joining the Gunners before the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

However, ahead of a possible deal, Arsenal supporters were given a reminder of the left-back's possible defensive defiencies.

Kurzawa was in action for PSG on Sunday as they faced Ligue 2 side Lorient in the Coupe de France.

The French champions eventually claimed a 1-0 victory thanks to a late Pablo Sarabia header, with his goal ten minutes from time proving to be the difference between the two sides.

But Kurzawa was given a torrid time on his flank, with Jimmy Cabot and Jonathan Martins Pereira providing a stiff test for the 27-year-old.

On one occasion, Pereira beat Kurzawa with a step-over before firing a shot towards goal but fortunately for PSG, it did not lead to a goal being conceded.

After the game, PSG sporting director Leonardo claimed that “no discussions” have taken place with Arsenal over the move.

"We never had any proposals. Zero proposals for Kurzawa," he said.

"And he plays, he has played many matches. But we haven’t had an exact proposal. We have never been called, we have nothing."

Elsewhere, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he has a wishlist when it comes to the the January transfer window, but has denied that Arsenal are looking to sign Manchester City defender John Stones.

“I have. You need to have one always, just in case." Arteta said, when asked if he and Arsenal had a shortlist of players.

"It has to be the right player, in the right context that financially we can complete and we can attract and all these factors, if you put them together, are not easy in this market.

“[There is] No truth at all in John Stones. No truth in Franck Kessie.

“John is a player I really like. When I look at centre-backs he’s got many attributes I like but I’m not looking at him.”
