The one Man City player Pep Guardiola is without for clash against Arsenal and Mikel Arteta

Arsenal's latest Premier League fixture is a big one as they face leaders Manchester City this afternoon.

The Gunners go into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Benfica in the Europa League three days ago as Mikel Arteta looks to get one over on his former head coach Pep Guardiola.

Speaking of the Spaniard, he is expected to make a late decision regarding the in-form Ilkay Gundogan.

The midfielder limped out of the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, after scoring twice, with a groin problem that caused him to miss the midweek win against Everton.

Having taken part in Friday's training session at the City Football Academy, Guardiola has confirmed that he will give the 30-year-old every chance to prove his fitness.

"Gundo played just part of today’s session," Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference. "We will see tomorrow how he feels.”

With that said, the good news for the Spanish tactician is that he doesn't have any other fresh injury concerns ahead of the game at the Emirates Stadium as defender Nathan Ake remains the only first-team player he will definitely be without against the Gunners.

"Nathan has come back to training on the pitch. Alone still, but he is closer to coming back with us,” added the City boss.

"The rest are fit."

Both Arsenal and Man City were in action in midweek, but Guardiola has dismissed suggestions that his side will be fresher than the Gunners having had more time to recover.

"They will be fired up, physically ready and ready to compete with the best performance Arsenal can," he explained.

"We know better than other teams in recent years perfectly how the schedule is. They will be on top."
